Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was raised in Barcelona and has been called an "atypical popstar" due to her many musical styles. [9] At the age of thirteen, she fell in the love of Spanish folk music and enrolled in musicology at Catalonia College of Music. She was also seen at weddings and music bars. Combining flamenco, hip hop and pop The album resulted in "Malamente" (single) as well as "Pienso in tu Mira" (single). Both singles sold out and were praised by critics across the world. The album was awarded the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and included in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the ascent of Rosalia into the international scene of music. Rosalia has explored urban music in her 2019 albums "Con Altura", and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi", had global success. She introduced reggaeton to a new approach to her third studio album Motomami (2022), departing from the new flamenco sound of her previous album. Its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" have caught the attention of the world's media and was the top-rated album on Metacritic. Rosalia has had ten number one singles in her home country throughout her career. This is the highest number she's ever had for local artists. Rosalia has also been awarded two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the year awards), four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among other awards. In 2019, Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award for "changing the current sound of mainstream music with her innovative flamenco-influenced pop",[18and she became the first act from Spain in the history of music to be recognized as the the Best New Artist award at the Grammys Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Rosalia is the youngest of four children born to Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who runs a small metalworking business. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They split in 2019. [23] Her older sister, Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative director. Rosalia began to be interested in performing arts as a young person and was particularly interested when she came across the discography of Camaron de la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she started her musical training. She completed a 6 year program at the academy. She began attending class at the Raval school and later moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Additionally, she worked as an independent singer at weddings and bars that were musical in which she was paid "a just over 80 euros or in exchange for dinner".
