Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018), while Madonna collaborated on Medellin with Maluma (2019). The year 2000 saw a number of reggaeton artists were expressing displeasure at the genre's direction toward the mainstream, but a new generation of performers, including Rauw Alejandro, aimed to ensure that reggaeton was evolving.
